Ethics Strategy:
- Collect unique examples from topper's copies, newspapers and different websites and memorise them nicely. It will also help in the Essay paper.
2. Try to internalise the values that are mentioned in the syllabus because questions would be in nature that you will have to think by heart. (Especially in the quote based questions of Section A).
3. Read the notes of different topics in ethics just to have an understanding of the syllabus. Never expect a direct question from those notes. You will have to be very creative in writing your answer.
4. Discussion is also important in Ethics. My friend Anupriya Rai (IPoS'22) has helped me in realising the fact that the Ethics paper demands not just theory knowledge but also honesty. Be brave to write what you think and how you think, even though it results in breaking the proper intro-body-conclusion format.
5. Some people attend the case study section first and then come to the theory section. I didn't follow the same. I attended the questions serial wise.
6. Time break up:
1:30 hrs to the theory section which amounts to around 7 minutes each.
1:30 hrs to the case study section which amounts to around 15 minutes each.
7. For case studies, don't pay heed to people who say that you have to write stakeholders compulsorily. There is no fixed format for answering the questions. Write what is being asked!
8. Solve PYQs of at least 5 years. They would provide a fair idea about the questions and time management that is needed in the exam. 2023 ethics paper was less lengthier than the 2022 one but it required good time management especially for the first timers. In my attempts of 2020 and 2021, I mismanaged time and scored in the 80s.
9. Don't over trust coaching institutes for Ethics at least. Trust yourself and your answers (if you are writing them by heart).
