Nausheen - History Optional Strategy

History Optional Tip #1.

For the test series, you can take selfstudyhistory test series but make sure that you have solved PYQ papers in 3 hours from 2018 to 2023 at least.

Selfstudyhistory test series is good in terms of their model answers but if you have taken their solved PYQs material already, you can start by solving previous year question papers and then match your answers with it.

The problem with the test series is that the evaluation is very generic. So, it is better that you cross check your answers yourself.

History Optional Tip #2

For beginners, don't fall into the trap of coaching institutes and their advertisements. I was never a part of any of them. I was at Jamia RCA from 2021 to 2024(present) and before that I was preparing from home.

No coaching institute presently in the market is up to date/ matches with the changing pattern of the exam. So, you should avoid joining them. You can start your preparation from basic books and toppers' notes.

History Optional Tip #3

For Maps preparation, you can take any source that you have been following (Some take Spectrum map material).

I personally followed only selfstudyhistory map material (topic wise) that I had purchased. Best way of remembering map sites and their description is to do with a friend. Initially, I used to do it with my sister and then with a friend at RCA.

How to memorize?

  • memorise district of the site.
  • 1/2 unique point about the site.
  • 2 generic points.
  • Also point the sites on a blank map and keep memorising them daily for 1 hr.

Some sites are very important. For e.g. Burzahom, Adichanallur, Dholavira etc. which are very often repeated. Try to memorise more points on such sites.

Some sites in the question paper would be unknown to you. Remember, it is not important to get 20/20 correct, I got only 15/20 correct in 2023, yet scored the highest marks ever in Paper 1 (166).
