Ancient History final notes

These are my notes for Ancient History (optional). It might appear very less but to be very honest I had a lot of accumulated knowledge over 4 years of my preparation which includes information from model answers, NCERT, notes and shorter notes that allowed me to further shorten my notes to this number of pages.

Ancient History was my strongest section. In fact, a question was asked to me in my interview about which period of history I like the most, to which I replied Ancient History. This answer shocked the interview panelists perhaps because it is less liked period. 😅

Some suggestions for Ancient History:

1. Start your answers with Primary sources of the period.

2. Include Historiography wherever possible. E.g. Sangam Age, Megalithic Age, Mauryan Period etc.

3. Include diagrams in architecture questions and maps in pre-history sections.

4. Conclusion should be open ended in debatable questions.
