Last-Minute Tips for Prelims Aspirants

Last-Minute Tips for Prelims Aspirants

1. Number of Attempts

• For GS Paper: Aim to attempt 85–95 questions.

• For CSAT: Target at least 50 questions to stay on the safer side.

2. Dealing with Confusing Options

• If the options confuse you, cover them with your palm, read only the question, and trust your first instinct—often your subconscious knows the right answer.

3. 3-Round Approach to Attempting the Paper

• Round 1: Attempt only the questions you are 100% sure about.

• Round 2: Attempt those you’re 50–50 confident on.

• Round 3: Attempt questions that can be intelligently guessed or approached through elimination.

4. Scan All Questions Before Marking the OMR

• Quickly go through all 100 questions before finalizing answers. Sometimes, a clue to Q1 may lie in Q100—UPSC is unpredictable.

5. CSAT Strategy

• Spend the first 50 minutes on passages.

• For other questions, skip anything that takes more than 2 minutes and return later after completing 50 questions. Time management is key.

6. Revise Previous Tests

• Focus on mock tests you’ve already taken. Revisiting mistakes helps strengthen weak areas and boosts confidence.

7. Stay Calm and Composed

• The more relaxed you are, the better your performance will be. Even if 80% of the questions feel unfamiliar, don’t panic. UPSC is designed to test your poise.

8. Quick Energy Boost

• Try dark chocolate before the exam for a mild, instant energy kick.

9. Stay Hydrated

• Drink water before entering the exam hall. Hydration helps maintain alertness and focus.

10. Watch Out for Extreme Words

• Be cautious of statements with words like “always,” “never,” “only,” “completely” — they are often incorrect in UPSC questions.

11. Bubble in Batches

• To avoid OMR errors, bubble answers in batches of 5–10. This saves time and reduces the risk of filling the wrong bubble in a hurry.

12.Mark Confusing Questions with a Symbol

• Use a system (like a small dot or circle) beside questions you want to revisit in the 2nd or 3rd round. This helps you navigate the paper more efficiently.

13. Time phle se hi decide krke jaana ki kitni der m kitna attempt krna h .Divide your time smartly.
