Law Optional strategy:
Sources that I followed-
- Constitutional law- JN Pandey and DD Basu
2. Administrative law- IP Massey
3. International Law- SK Kapoor
4. IPC- Ratanlal and Dhirajlal
5. Contracts and Torts- RK Bangia
6. CLD- Internet
My entire strategy was PYQ based.
I made sure to look at topic wise PYQs compiled by DefactoIAS and LawXperts. Then I made model answers for the same. These were my notes.
I mostly chose to make notes digitally for the law optional. However in August, one month before the exam, I made quick revision notes by hand.
Studying for the law optional:
I used active recall techniques to the maximum. I used to try to write down the answer to the PYQs without looking, then would compare the answer to the model answer that I'd made.
After writing the answer to about two questions or so, I would come back to the first question and attempt it again (spaced repetition).
Value addition:
- For value addition, I had compiled recent case laws. I used to follow LiveLaw deligently. Whatever new case was relevant to the syllabus, I would make a note of it. I would revise these new cases daily.
2. I also had quotes by esteemed jurists and Judges ready so that I could quote them in philosophical questions
I made sure not to leave a single topic. Even if it was done superficially (eg Negotiable Instruments Act), I made sure to at least make an attempt to make rough notes of the most important questions.
P.S: This was my law strategy in brief. I've been planning on sharing my law optional notes, but I think it'll be more beneficial if I do so after this year's Prelims.
