Importance of PYQs
All of the above has to complemented by continuous practice of PYQs. Identify the important themes based on PYQs and do smart study. Try to identify the pattern of mistakes which examiner introduces in the questions. This will come when you have solved the PYQ for at least 5-6 times.
Cramming the answer of PYQs is not the motive here. Try to know the psychology of the examiner through analysing the pattern of questions and its depth.
Don't run after random test series of coaching institutes. PYQs will give the maximum return be it prelims or mains.
If you have time, go through the question papers of CDS, CAPF, Geo scientist (all these are also conducted by UPSC only)
Current affairs
I used Insights IAS prelims exclusive compilation but did a selective reading of that as well. Don't read it cover to cover but based on your analysis of PYQs.
Balancing static and current affairs
Build a strong foundation of static, it will help you give confidence. From my experience, give major chunk of your attention to static and then move to current affairs. Take any one compilation of your choice but don't leave the newspaper reading on daily basis.
Newspaper -- Read any newspaper which you are comfortable with, be it The Hindu, Indian Express, The Times of India.
