My current affairs preparation has been different for all 3 stages-
I have tried to be consistent to read Newspapers although havenât be successful always. I used to follow â The Hindu newspaper analysisâ on Byjus Youtube channel and have benefitted through the same. They also had initiatives such as âEconomy this weekâ, âInternational relations this week.â Loved Shyam sirâs economy and Sarmad sirâs polity videos.
1. Prelimsâď¸Prioritiseâď¸
Time is a limited resource so use wisely. My order of reading was
Economy > Polity > Environment > IR >Science and tech.
Others I had just taken a brief look at last, mostly stuck to revising (Active recall - grateful to Dr Shivin whose tips have been quite helpful) these above mentioned Vision PT 365. For Environment and Science and tech, I read 2 years PT just to brush up over any new terms and concepts.
2. Mains- Take the syllabus very seriously and stick to it. Know the keywords so that when you read the newspaper you can skip the irrelevant ones. I tried my best but ended up reading only Editorials sometimes. Again the Mains Compilation from Vision is quite helpful to revise at the last moment. While revising ensured to read only the important highlighted part so it is Easier. I was a part of Satyam Jain sirâs SFG group and Satyam sir himself took sessions for the same so these were quite helpful.
3. Interview- Newspaper are quite crucial to objectively analyse and to understand any issue such as MSP, farmers protest, this was the one phase wherein I tried to follow both The Hindu and Indian express, following some channels like The print, down to earth which also had in depth explanation. I would suggest any other source as well so that you are well acquainted with your field as well as general affairs. I made notes on every topic whichever was in the news. This was the only phase wherein I had made notes from the newspapers.
