I had a lot of my juniors ask this question that how did you come to the conclusion of making this jump from medical to UPSC and what about the self doubts?
I was never a 100% sure if this was the correct decision for me. I have at least a 100 times questioned my decision to have left medicine and gotten into a completely different career path. Most of my friends are in their residencies and were progressing in their careers, so that made it more the difficult to not question if it was the right decision to put in 2-3 years into this.
What to do when in self doubt?
- Remind why you started it in the first place. Your WHY should be a very powerful source of motivation and clarity.
2. If you have been in the preparation for long, which fortunately was not my case, I think doing some evaluation realistically if it is still something you want could be a good step.
3. Do not attach your value/identity to the marks you score. Keep an attitude of improving oneself daily.
4. In the end, Life is or never will be certain, so have some faith and take that leap to keep continuing in your endeavours.
