How is a coaching useful in UPSC ?

How is a coaching useful?

a. Streamlining preparation - esp. for those who have not explored Humanities subjects after Class 10

b. Syllabus completion - preparing within strict time frames

c. Peer factor - provides a competitive environment where people with similar goals study together

Is coaching enough to pass this exam?

a. DEFINITELY NOT

b. Coaching just provides a path, you have to form your own plan to cover it and reach the destination.

c. Class Notes (multiple bulky notebooks in a span of a few months) are practically not revisable before exams. You will have to form your own short notes on every topic of syllabus (more on making short notes later :))

d. If you join a coaching, have a strong clarity that you will still need to cover much of the syllabus on your own. That is why many students who have access to detailed external guidance regarding civil services from friends, relatives and successful candidates do not take GS coaching.
