How important are standard resources?

Been getting this a lot, want to clarify - I have read all the standard resources like Laxmikant and Spectrum and everything else too but relied on them majorly for Prelims. I was able to make 1 page notes because I got my conceptual clarity from these standards books that all toppers read.
