Good evening everyone, the UPSC Marksheet have now been released. But i won’t be sharing it for you to decode - rather i will decode it for you all by myself.
This will break a lot of myths , a lot of confusions & will provide you with a better understanding. Especially for students who have a very distorted understanding of the term GUIDANCE.
After looking at my marksheet the biggest element of surprise were my GS IV marks (141) and as i have already mentioned on one of the platform that this was ONE of the subject that i prepared on my own taking cue from toppers notes , toppers test copies , etc which was shared by one of my mentor. For ethics i did not take help of any book / coaching notes rather did a lot value addition with relevant examples , case studies etc from newspaper, Better India website etc.
Last year in my Optional ( PSIR ) my scores were 231 which increased to 279 this year which is a jump of 48 marks . To clarify it here - for Optional i was not associated with any coaching institutions neither for foundation nor for any mentorship . I prepared on my own with the help of IGNOU materials , some relevant freely available resources in the market ( I will share the details soon).
The idea behind this post is to tell you that Guidance in UPSC should not be equated with only Paid courses , because in the end nothing at all can help you if you’re not ready to put in your hard work . My marks of Ethics and Optional are one of those example which shows that UPSC is doable also on our own BUT only if we have clarity regarding the examination, have a proper strategy & we are ready to put in those hours.
So aspirants who dream of clearing UPSC but have financial constraints this is to tell you all - Guidance can come from any source - be it a mentor , teacher , parents, rankers etc. and to help you all i will be coming up with a detailed strategy video very soon.
Remember :- There’s nothing that YOU can’t do if you want to.
