A message to one of my closest friends and many others who might not have qualified prelims and were in their last attempt:

YOU ARE MUCH MUCH MORE THAN THIS EXAM!

I cannot even begin to imagine your pain, your sadness and even your anger. You're definitely allowed to feel angry, towards the exam, the process, the mechanism, even towards God but definitely not to yourself! 

You gave your best, you did everything you could and there was nothing more you could have done! You gave it your all, you sacrificed a lot and you're definitely allowed to feel angry!

But what you need right now is to be kind! Please be kind to yourself! Please understand that everyone around you is very very proud of you that you persisted! Everyone around you including your family, your mentor and your friends are super proud of you for the way you've sailed through this journey! And that is what matters! 

I know these words might mean nothing right now as the scar runs deep, but please try to pat yourself on the back rather than thinking otherwise because you were truly and genuinely deserving! 

Life definitely has bigger and better plans for you! At this time, just try to take one moment at a time and believe that your future is bright! Truly truly bright!💫

Hi everyone, 
I know these are the toughest times, tougher than the night before the exam actually! 

I used to experience the same level of anxiety (probably even more), even during the times when I knew I was way ahead of the cutoff mark.

So, I just want to tell you that this is normal! This feeling is normal! This anxiety is normal! I just want to validate the things you are feeling!

Some things that I did to overcome this anxiety that might also help you:
1) Surround yourself with friends who you can prepare with. Talk it out while trying to be productive.

2) Do not take something very heavy or loaded to study, rather read some Topper's copies, brainstorm a few PYQs, all with a limited timer just so that you feel 'Bas itna hi padhna hai!'.

3) If you cannot study at all, watch a light movie or show that you like and calm your nerves.

4) Treat yourself with some good food or a good chat after achieving your goal for a few hours or the day! (Just some immediate gratification)

5) Finally, a little abstract, but still worth mentioning, keep telling yourself that 'Sab achha hoga!'. I know it might feel a little tough but have faith in a higher power, in whichever God you believe in and you'll definitely find that strength!

You have given your all and you can change nothing now. The only thing you can do is be a little prepared for the next stage!

4) Develop a habit for physical exercise like a 30 minute walk or 10 minute meditation to feel that sense of accomplishment on the days you study less.

5) Find a peer/friend/mentor who you can send your study updates to, at the end of the day.

These are just some real time solutions that you can try to maximize your productivity and ensure that you utilise this precious time.

Remember this! 
It's very painful when you have the thought 'Prelims ho gaya, ab kya karun!?' So every time you feel like giving up, remember, you don't want to regret missing out on these precious days!

Spectrum Modern History Notes

It's only a week before the Prelims. In 8 days from now, you will be writing the coveted UPSC CSE Prelims examination and thus, you need to ensure you don't fail before the exam. 

Failing one week before the exam means stopping revision, doomscrolling on Instagram or YouTube, searching for motivation from external sources expecting one video or post to motivate you to study. Let me state clearly: THAT WILL NOT HAPPEN, including this post too.

What will help is planning backwards, what you will do one day before the exam, 3 days before and a week before. And that must not include entire subjects like 'Revising Polity'. That is just ambiguous and almost impossible to achieve.

How to plan backwards:
1. Mention the specific chapters of a particular subject you need to revise. E.g Emergency chapter from Laxmikanth 
2. Make a specific list of things you need to revise from different subjects.
3. Divide that list according to specific time slots that you will need for its completion.
4. Do not keep on adding new things till the last moment.
5. Revise the low hanging fruits like mapping, certain facts and figures, articles from Polity, etc.

Apart from that, plan your day in a realistic manner. Do not keep 12 hour schedules in the last week, rather focus on getting the proper amount of sleep, eating healthy food and keeping yourself hydrated.
